Job Summary

A person who provides assistance – under professional supervision – with nutritional and environmental support, personal hygiene, feeding, and dressing.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must speak, read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Must complete required home care aide training and orientation.
  • Preferred: At least one (1) year of experience as a professional home care aide.
  • Must be currently registered with the California Department of Social Services (CA DSS) Home Care Aide Registry.
  • Must possess a valid and current CPR certification.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned tasks and follow the client’s individualized service plan.
  • Report changes in the client’s condition and any incidents promptly to the Supervisor using agency forms.
  • Maintain accurate daily activity records and submit required documentation on time.
  • Provide personal care services, including assistance with:
    • Bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
    • Oral hygiene, skin care, and grooming
    • Changing bed linens and laundering personal items
    • Meal preparation, serving, and food purchasing
    • Light housekeeping in areas used for care
    • Transfers (e.g., bed to chair) and use of assistive devices
  • Adhere to universal precautions and infection control protocols.
  • Protect client confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and agency policy.
  • Follow emergency procedures and respect client rights at all times.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, families, and team members.
  • Attend required annual training (minimum 5 hours).
  • Comply with all agency policies and scheduling expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
